Members of the Board at Trethowans Solicitors in Southampton participated in the Clock Tower Challenge to raise funds for The Salisbury Hospice last weekend. Andrew Mercer, Chris Whiteley, Garry Treagust & Mike Watson took part in a three day car rally across Europe, taking photos of clock towers in the following towns and cities - Salisbury, Dover, Calais, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Xanten, Brussels, Paris and Amiens.
The challenge started in Salisbury Guildhall Square early on Friday 26th March and ended on Sunday 28th March 2010 back in Salisbury. During the three days the team covered 1,181 miles and travelled through five countries before heading back to Salisbury.
Thanks to the generosity of our clients, staff, business contacts, family and friends the team raised £4000 for Salisbury Hospicecare.
Salisbury Hospice provides Specialist Palliative Care Services in the Salisbury, Wiltshire area. People who benefit from Salisbury Hospice are those faced with a progressive life limiting disease, the majority of whom will have cancer. At any one time the hospice cares for over 180 patients (they have 10 beds in regular use and visit patients both at home and in local hospitals). The patient care they provide is free of charge.
To raise as much as possible for Salisbury Hospicecare we emailed over 2,500 of our clients and business contacts and set up a Just Giving page to make the process of donating as easy as possible.
Commenting on the charity challenge, Andrew Mercer, Chairman and a member of the Trethowans team that participated in the challenge said; “I think it is fair to say that Trethowans probably has the best clients and contacts possible. Between them, our staff and our family and friends, we have raised £4000 which is absolutely fantastic. We are delighted that Trethowans has been able to raise this money which I know will help Salisbury Hospice considerably to continue their good work in providing palliative care to the Salisbury and Wiltshire community.”
