Nexus Theater, LLC is a Virginia-based electronics company with a new product that is poised to completely change the way that people receive digital entertainment.
The Nexus Theater (available in three model versions: NX1, NX2 and M Series) is set top box that plays Blu Rays, DVDs, music, PC games, surfs the web, stores your entire movie collection within it’s built in memory, runs 100’s of apps (like Twitter and Pandora), plays videos from Youtube and streams top rated TV shows directly to the unit with no monthly subscription. Additionally, it runs a full version of Windows 7; meaning that any software that can be installed on even the most powerful PC, can run smoothly from the Nexus Theater.
A large part of the excitement behind the Nexus Theater is not in what it does, but in how well it does it. Nexus Theaters are capable of performing many functions simultaneously without showing a lag in performance. They also upscale the visual and audio quality of movies, making your viewing experience more smooth and crisp. The units are powered by the same powerful triple core and quad core processors used in professional grade desktop computers and by graphics cards that render games at a higher quality than most gaming consoles.
Feedback from focus groups and preview audiences to the device has been overwhelmingly positive. The device’s ability to not only replace Blu Ray players, DVD players, iPods and gaming consoles, but to also stream TV shows on demand without subscription cable service has left some participants at a loss for words. Additionally, it’s ability to replace the home desktop PC has inspired some to nickname it the “Desktop Killer.”
