The UK is set to see a bonanza in the number of homes installing solar panels. Sharp expects a 10 fold increase in the number of homes fitting solar panels. The reason for this increase is the new feed in tariff which pays homeowners an income for installing solar panels.
The feed in tariff has been set a rate of 41.3p per kW which means for a typical 2.5kW you can expect to earn around £1,100 per year. The feed in tariff is gauranteed for 25 years, so for an invetsment of around £12,500 you can expect to earn around £35,000. over the lifetime of the panels. If you compare this to a typical investment, it offers a good return. Wayne Morris of the big green company says "we are seen a 10 fold increase in the number of people looking to install solar at our new solar panel centre in Cheshire. The sheer amount of press coverage means that customers are becoming more aware of the benefits of solar panels".
It is important to ensure you get a suitably qualified installer as unless the system is installed correctly, you will not be able to get the feed in tariff.
Solar panels will start to become a common feature in the UK, the sooner you get your installs, the sooner you will receive your income.
