Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center announces celebrity judges in Break the Silence PSA Contest

Widely acclaimed filmmaker, writer, actress, and public speaker Angela Shelton has been announced as one of four celebrity judges who will select the winner of the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center’s "Break the Silence" PSA Contest.

The “Break the Silence” PSA Contest invites everyone to create a 30-second video that will help reduce the prevalence of sexual assault. Anyone who wishes to compete in the contest can visit http://www.silentnomore4teens.org/contests for more details and registration information. The deadline for contest submissions is April 23 with the winner to be announced at the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center’s Annual Celebrity Dinner on May 1.

Angela Shelton joins a panel of judges that features leaders in the field of sexual assault, including The Date Safe Project Inc founder Mike Domitrz, We End Violence director Jeffrey Bucholtz, and Sergeant David W. Tripp.

Angela Shelton, whose work includes the powerful award-winning film Searching for Angela Shelton, has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, NPR, Lifetime Television for Women, and the cover of The New York Times. Her work has inspired courage and healing for those who suffer sexual and domestic abuse. The Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center services
Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center provides free, confidential services to Kennebec, Somerset, Knox and Waldo Counties. Services include: a 24 hour, confidential, statewide, crisis support line: 1-800-871-7741; support groups for survivors of sexual assault and child sexual abuse and for non-offending parents of children who have been sexually abused; crisis intervention and information; support and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault and their families; advocacy for survivors who chose to seek medical attention, report to the police, or go through the criminal justice system; referral to appropriate agencies and individuals in the area; community and professional education.
