The event to be held at Keller Road Baseball Complex in Maitland, Fl., on Sunday, April 25, 2010 from noon to 6 p.m., provides a great opportunity for the community to meet, mingle and show appreciation for their local first response teams. Local sponsors and donors will be recognized throughout the tournament for providing food and silent auction prizes. The community, media, businesses and organizations are invited to attend, sponsor and enjoy the day.

The concept of Friends of First Response-Maitland, Inc. began in early 2008. Linda Frosch, as Maitland city council woman elect, prepared to be seated on Maitland city council by spending time with each city department. Ms. Frosch was struck by the dedication and enthusiasm of all city employees. She has family members who are first responders, so time spent with Maitland first responders especially impressed her. Subsequent discussions of the special needs of the first responders in fire and police departments led to long talks with family and friends. This evolved into Friends of First Response-Maitland, Inc. The entity has been incorporated in the State of Florida and it is recognized as a not for profit 501(c)(3) charity by the IRS. In 2008 Friends of First Response-Maitland, Inc. raised funds to provide 30 take dress blue uniforms for Maitland fire fighters.
