Charleston, SC, 6 April 2010 —Hollywood SC Studios will premiere its first feature length movie “Republic of Pete”, at the Charleston International Film Festival April 9th at 9pm. “Republic of Pete” was one of 7 feature length films to be selected for this year’s Charleston International Film Festival with over 90 feature films being submitted. “Republic of Pete” stars, TV and Film veteran Clarence Felder (The Last Boy Scout, Nightmare on Elm Street), Army Wives’ Richard Bryant as well as TV Judge Akim Anastopoulo (Eye for an Eye).
“This film proves that Hollywood SC Studios is a contender in the world of Independent Cinema, we are extremely happy to be part of this festival and look forward to a successful road ahead” says Executive Producer Akim Anastopoulo.
“Republic of Pete” is a buddy comedy that tells the story of loveable loser protagonist Pete and his friends. Pete's evil Grandpa gives him $80 million in an effort to avoid losing his fortune in a lawsuit. Newly rich Pete and his friends decide to live out their fantasy of a perfect vacation life by buying an island. But evil Grandpa has only one goal: to get his greedy hands back on his money.
“We are excited to host the World Premier of “Republic of Pete”, it is a wonderful comedy film that embodies the independent film making spirit that we strive to showcase at our festival,” said Brian Peacher, Executive Director of the Charleston International Film Festival. The film will be paired with a short film entitled “Private Lies” by Charleston Filmmaker David Abrams.
