Glimpse into the World of Zvetan Mumdgiev in Altered States of Reality at Agora Gallery

Agora gallery presents zvetan mumdgiev in altered states of reality

April 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Bulgarian artist, Zvetan Mumdgiev, in Altered States of Reality: an Exhibition of Analog and Digital Photography.  The exhibition is scheduled to run from April 16, 2010 through May 07, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, April 22, 2010).
The computer-based art of Zvetan Mumdgiev provides a glimpse into an alternate universe, one inhabited by mysticism, color, and shifting symmetries. Mumdgiev’s digital prints are thrilling in their uniqueness, their suggestions of depth, movement, and transformation. The images appear to be constantly evolving, morphing according to some hidden, deeper plan, leaving traces of their former selves while emerging as something new. The resulting works are visual echoes of ideas, comprised by a multitude of tones and forms simultaneously delicate and ephemeral, complex and strong. Mumdgiev’s digital essays radiate energy and power; they ultimately resonate with the viewer on visceral level, striving to reveal a cosmic unity that underlies their very existence.

In addition to computer art, Zvetan Mumdgiev works in many fields, including painting, sculpture, graphic design, interior design, scenography, and installation art. A native of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where he still resides, Mumdgiev’s work has been exhibited throughout Europe and North America.

Consumed with exploring our world as they uniquely see it, the artists in Agora Gallery’s “Altered States of Reality: an Exhibition of Analog and Digital Photography” use a myriad of visual vocabularies and technologies.  Differing in method, these artists share in the passionate quest to articulate the moments often ignored in everyday life. Influenced by Surrealism and Abstractionism alike, these artists boldly investigate their psyches and natural surroundings. The results, at once harmonious, perplexing and alluring, take us on an inspirational visual journey.
