Singing for Haiti and the Andrew Grene Foundation

On a beautifully sunny Sunday (March 7), in the lovely seaside town of Carlingford, there was a splendid concert in aid of the Andrew Grene Foundation.

April 6, 2010 - PRLog -- The venue, kindly provided for the occasion by the Carlingford Heritage Trust was the converted church which is now their community hall.  Organisers Niall O'Hagan, a Dundalk solicitor, and Frank Campbell, London-based pianist, composer and musical director, had put together an amazingly rich and eclectic programme of music.  Led off by the remarkable voice of Fr Marino Ngeukam Cssp, originally from the Cameroon but currently working in Dublin, there were singers and musicians in every style and mode, from well-known singer-songwriter Liam Reilly, through the harmonious musical duo Zoe Conway (violin) and John McIntyre (guitar), the Oriel String Quartet, and the unaccompanied traditional singing of Tom Hamill to the astonishing tuba solo of Mark Nutley.

The concert came to a brilliant finale with an ensemble for multiple voices specially composed by Frank Campbell to his own musical accompaniment on a theme linking Carlingford and Haiti.  This wonderfully moving event, played to an absolutely packed hall, raised a magnificent £2,700.00 for the Foundation.
