O.C. Screenwriters Association To Host Emmy-winning Screenwriter And Award-winning Author

The Orange County Screenwriters Association is hosting a Q&A for aspiring film writers and authors at the Regency South Coast Village Theater, 1561 W Sunflower Ave. in Santa Ana, Saturday, May 22nd from 10am-1pm.

April 6, 2010 - PRLog -- The Orange County Screenwriters Association has invited acclaimed screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski on Saturday, May 22nd for a Q&A discussion. The event is FREE to attend, and this is a must for aspiring writers and lovers of cinema. Prior to Straczynski's appearance on stage will be award-winning author Manny Pacheco, and O.C Register radio columnist Gary Lycan.

  Straczynski has written for film and television, and his credits include "Changeling", which was directed by Clint Eastwood. The writer was nominated for a BAFTA for his work; and star, Angelina Jolie, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in 2008. He currently has 5 films in production including Lensman for Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard.

    " Babylon 5" is the screenwriter’s most noted television production. The show has won several awards including two Emmys. He’s also written episodes for "Murder, She Wrote", "Jake and the Fatman", and "Walker, Texas Ranger."

  His journalism credentials are well known nationally, with articles in People Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. Straczynski has also dabbled as a television producer and playwright. In 2008, Daily Variety named Straczynski as one of the “Top Ten Screenwriters to Watch.”

  Manny Pacheco has written "Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History", which tells America's story thrrough the eyes of charater actors including Claude Rains, Ward Bond, Walter Brennan, and Basil Rathbone. He's set to appear on KFWB 980AM in Los Angeles on Kari Moran's Book Radio Show, Sunday, May 23rd, at 3pm.

  The paperback was recently awarded USA Book News - 2009 Best Book (History: Media/Entertainment). The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, The American Film Institute, and The Writers Guild Foundation recently added Pacheco's work to their prestigious libraries.

  Gary Lycan, who writes a Sunday radio column, wrote the Foreword to "Forgotten Hollywood Forgotten History."
