April 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Google has recently signed a deal with to integrate tweets into keyword related searches.

Google have also just integrated “real-time” search technology to show news content and posts as soon as they hit the web. The opportunities and benefits of the real-time web also represent its deficiencies – the ability to focus the stream of information into a river of relevance. Certain companies are using a form of digital intuition to increase tweets that match our content, patterns and behaviour as we read.

We currently have a more sophisticated era of real-time search, which will further advance, personalise and localise in time. Everything begins with the experimentation of sophisticated algorithms that rank and filter the content we are eager to discover. To explain better, Google adapted its Page Rank technology for showing related tweets. Page Rank was first developed to assist is finding relevant Web pages through traditional searches. It was Google’s first differentiation in a world of commodity search platforms. Google’s Page Rank looks at the relevance of web pages linked to keywords based upon link structure. It is determined by the quality and quantity of inbound links to every page and the branches of outlying link relationships that tie other pages to those within the first degree of inbound connections.

Tying tweets or other social content to notable producers and their networlds of reputed followers and sub-follower architectures is a challenge with real-time search.

Google examines the signal in the noise also. This is to surface the most relevant tweets related to common and to obscure objects. Twitter exceeds the technology that packages tweets, including as geo-location data so we should see a quick advance of real-time search. So if a follower is the equivalent of one page linking to another on the web, Google will recognise each as a form of recommendation. As higher quality pages link to the sources, the original page will increase in value.

Running a search for a specific keyword will now produce qualified results for web pages and content published in Twitter and other social networks, ranked by the authority of the page and publisher of social objects as assessed y Page Rank technology. According to Google, the adaptation of Page Rank for Social Media creates a human algorithm (or a People Rank) or sorts that could one day service as a foundation for also assessing the authority of an individual in the social Web.

Although the idea of ranking influence on the social web is both interesting and necessary, it is not perfect. Doing a search in either search engine will reinforce this sentiment. However, it is helping us reduce obstacles what would usually prevent or prolong the process of finding pertinent information. It will also improve over time. As the human algorithm evolves, it transforms the definition and logic for relationship.

Perhaps the next iterations of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Optimization (SMO) will focus on enhancing the link structures of human relationships to escalate the prominence of our stature and the social objects we create and share.
