The Homecoming - All's Fair in Love and War

Coming home from war is seldom easy. Just as the word ‘homecoming’ evokes memories of high school and college celebrations, Vietnam veterans returning from war experienced a whole different type of homecoming.

April 5, 2010 - PRLog -- The late 1960s was a time of protests and radicalism in America. “Make love not war” was the rallying cry for millions of college students on campuses across the country.

In The Homecoming, a Vietnam War vet comes back to the United States after his release from a Vietcong POW camp. Randy Newman is shell-shocked upon his return home, and his reception is not at all what he expected.

The year is 1969, and Randy is suddenly thrust into a world he hasn’t seen in six years. Confused, he begins having hallucinations. When he sees a poster showing a boy and girl on the beach, the girl transforms into his first love, Natalie, and his search for her begins. Meanwhile, Natalie’s hope that Randy would eventually return to her has finally faded. At the same time he returns to California, Natalie has just fallen in love with another man.

This powerful story about love and war proves that even in the darkest of times, love can overcome all obstacles.
