In 2008, Maria Camoratto, architect and yoga instructor, decided she needed to take better advantage of life’s many freedoms. On exhibit here are photographs from her spiritual journey through the holy cities of India. Each image symbolizes the embers that burn the fire of life, culture and society. From a cow resting on the beach to Buddhist Monks having their palms read by a Hindu Swami, you will see and feel the surprise and wonder of travel as well as the beauty of photography offered by her unique eye on light, shadow, texture and color. Come share in her journey during her one-month (April 2010) exhibit at Black-N-Brew, 1523 E. Passyunk Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. 19147, (267) 639-6070.

Maria Camoratto is a Registered Architect, Architecture Professor and Yoga Instructor. She enjoys a full life and has her hands in many different creative outlets including photography. She earned her Master of Architecture degree and has made a career out of trying to bridge the gap between good design and humanity. As a student, she decided to study architecture because she believed that a beautiful and well-organized environment had a positive effect on people’s lives and wanted to be part of bettering the world’s communities. After Hurricane Mitch, she worked in Central America rebuilding schools and homes for people who had lost them in the disaster. It is there that she first started to cultivate her interest in photography. In the United States she has worked on myriad projects from affordable housing to hotels and restaurants, always trying to bring green, sustainable concepts to her work.
In her personal life she is always trying to expand her creativity and vitality. She spent 6 months on a spiritual journey through India practicing yoga and meditation where the images being exhibited were all taken. While there, she traveled to the north of India where she met the Dalai Lama, and to the south of India where she received her Yoga Teacher Certification. She enjoys travel and takes inspiration from other cultures and the new experiences offered in foreign countries.
