JAE ENTERPISES TO PRESENT THE 2010 FEDERAL COMPASSION CAPITAL - CAPACITY BUILDING GRANT AWARD RECIPIENTS
Camden Nonprofits Selected to Receive Cash Grants and Training and Technical Assistance Awards Under Federal Compassion Capital Fund Capacity Building Initiative.
CAMDEN, NJ – JAE Enterprises, Inc., a Glenside, PA and Camden, NJ based for-profit consulting firm, providing training and technical assistance to non-profit organizations, will announce the 2010 recipients of the Compassion Capital Fund Capacity Building Initiative (CCBI) on Tuesday, April 13th, at the Camden Waterfront Technology Center, 200 Federal Street, Camden, NJ. The CCBI is part of a three-year, $1.5 million Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration grant from The Federal Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. This is the third and final year this grant was awarded to provide support to organizations providing services to the City of Camden, and JAE was again selected to serve as an intermediary to assist the City’s nonprofits with growth and development strategies.
This year’s awardees include: Interfaith Homeless Outreach Center; Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; Touch New Jersey; Woodland Community Development Center; New Life Community Development Center of Camden; Safe Passage Community Technology Center; Alpha Supportive Housing Services, Inc.; ASPIRA, Inc. of New Jersey; Boat People SOS, Inc.; Soul of Camden; and the Mental Health Association of Southwestern New Jersey.
CCF grants are intended to expand the capacity of community and faith-based organizations to deliver social services to America's downtrodden in a secular manner through, among other things, an enhanced ability to compete for Federal grants. This grant comes at a particularly significant time given the current economic crisis.
“JAE Enterprises is pleased to help Camden non-profit organizations develop, grow and bring in new revenue sources that will enable them to continue providing needed programs to the residents of the city.” reports Project Director Kelley E. Ewing, Jr. “Our project assists these organizations with capacity building and sustainability training that will immediately impact their organizational capabilities.”
“It is ironic that we should receive this grant as Camden is recovering from the economic recession,” said Jolene A. Ewing, President& Founder of JAE. “We are hopeful that we … support Camden in its recovery. Since the outset of this initiative in Camden, we have hired a Camden resident and opened a satellite office in the city. In this way, we are where the action is.”
JAE Enterprises, Inc. issued a Request for Proposal (RPF) at the end of February 2010 to locate and identify qualified organizations. Responses to the CCBI RFP were reviewed by local members of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers and Citizens Bank, one of JAE’s collaborating partners, to determine which organizations were to receive these Capacity Building awards. Representatives from Robert D. Ketterlinus, Ph.D. & Associates, another collaborating partner, will be providing on-going project evaluations to ensure the success of the initiative.
