Did you hear that Google is getting into Caffeine? Well this is the new code name for their upgraded search engine. According to Mashable.com (Google’s launching a new, upgraded version of its search engine) Google has released it’s developer’s preview. Their aim with this new version is to “improve the speed, accuracy, size, and comprehensiveness of Google search”.

The story on mashable said that according to their ‘non-scientific’ testing was this new versions offers some new things. They suggest:

New Google is FAST: It often doubled the speed of Google classic.

New Google relies more on keywords: (the means that for us SEO professionals we have now more things to learn and consider )The algorithm’s definitely different. It has more reliance on keyword strings to produce better results.

Search is moving into real-time: Being able to get info on breaking events is clearly a priority for Google and Bing. With both Twitter and Facebook launching real-time search engines, they needed to respond.

A response to Bing: Seems to me (as well as the authors of the mashable story) that the timing of this version as well as their focus on increasing speed, relevancy, accuracy, and the index volume, is a direct response to the Microsoft engine, Bing.

So, will Google China get these new adaptions? yes…. but I am hoping someone from Google China can let us know when…. Competition really does breed innovation… and puts the attention back where it should be … on the users conducting the billions of search queries.
