Actor & Canine Therapy Dog Finds Staring role...But but neither on screen or in theater

Theresa with her professionally trained canine, Winston have won numerous national and local television and print campaigns, including fashion photo shoots, music videos, commercials and industry promotional events

April 2, 2010 - PRLog -- New York struggling Canine Actor and Children's Hospital and School Star, Therapy dog Winston, was pleased to be given a bow in the April 2010 issue of Dog Fancy Magazine, the largest circulating animal magazine in the United States.

It is ruff in the competitive Animal Acting business and, as a mutt, Winston loses many opportunities since most clients request a specific breed.  With all this rejection it is nice to come "home" to the Children’s hospital and school where with the medically fragile kids competition is replaced by unconditional love!

Winston's love of kids, extraordinary talent and temperament are integrated into the weekly sessions by the talented teachers and therapists who create a unique interactive performance rehabilitation therapy based on each child's need. This pioneering method of therapy concentrates on adapting Winston's numerous tricks, ranging from sit and rollover to skipping rope and skateboarding, into the sessions where the amazing therapists and teachers produce enthusiastic reactions and therapeutic improvements in children.
Quotes Trainer Theresa Carroll “We have been volunteering in animal assisted therapy over 5-years and have done research on this type of therapy and have not been able to find other facilities using this ground breaking method of incorporating an animals talents in to the therapy.

Winston is currently featured in the Blue Buffalo Dog food commercial.  Hired as "background actor," his ability focus and perform through all the chaos on set, won out 15 "pure breeds" for one of the feature spots. But to Winston who is accustomed to interacting and entertaining 25 medically fragile toddlers at a time this was a breeze.

Trying out new behaviors for the kids at the hospitals a can be brutal as they are extremely honest, but this is a walk in park compared to the rejections we can get in acting business.  At the end of the day there is nothing more rewarding than witnessing a child "come to life" during these sessions and that makes it all worthwhile.

We give a big thanks to our children’s hospital family for Winston's success on and off the screen.   The difference Winston make in these lives and the love and "therapy" that these kids and teachers give us during our weekly sessions ads a clear perspective on what we do and what is most important in this life.
