AUBURN, Calif., April 2, 2010 -- ioSafe today announced its intention to provide people affected by the recent flooding in the US Northeast with a complimentary fireproof and waterproof external hard drive.
"When disaster strikes and somebody's computer is damaged in a flood or fire, it is usually not a just few emails that are lost, it is also their irreplaceable family photos and videos and possibly important business data too," said ioSafe CEO, Robb Moore. "Unfortunately, we might not be able to help people affected by the recent flood to recover data that they may have already lost, but we can help them to better protect it in future."
Last year, Robb Moore's hometown of Auburn was threatened by the 49er fire and, while his home was not one of those destroyed in the blaze, the event nonetheless had a strong impact on him. “From my business at the Auburn Airport, I can look out and see the burned area. My house is a quarter-mile from the fire. My heart goes out to all of the people affected by the fire,” he said shortly after the fire. As a result, ioSafe offered a free external hard drive to local people and businesses that lost property in the fire, and the company is now extending a similar offer to those affected by flooding in the Northeast.
"I'd like to extend this offer to anybody who suffered property damage during the flooding in the Northeast," said Moore. "I'll be absolutely delighted if this small gesture helps some people avoid losing their small business, photos and other digital memories in future disasters."
ioSafe is making one hundred ioSafe Solo hard drives available to people affected by the flooding in Northeastern US for the next three months. To request a drive, people are asked to email ioSafe at info@iosafe.com stating that their home or business was damaged during the flooding and supplying their contact information and a copy of any local police or fire dept. report describing the damage.
