The Sealy Corporation, the company behind Sealy Beds, has announced very impressive financial results for the first quarter of 2010.
Already the world’s largest bedding manufacturer, Sealy has simply further strengthened its position.
Sales for the first quarter of 2010 were $339.6 million, an increase of 9.6% on the same period in 2009. Gross margin also saw an increase, now up to 41.3%.
Larry Rogers, Sealy's President and Chief Executive Officer, was understandably delighted with the figures:
“We are very pleased with our first quarter 2010 results, as we delivered top line growth, driven by both unit growth and Average Unit Selling Price ("AUSP") growth.”
Larry Rogers went on to say that these impressive results were underpinned by Sealy’s strategy to bring out new product lines to cater for the worldwide recession:
“We continue to reap benefits from the successful rollout last year of our innovative Stearns & Foster line. We had a strong showing at the Las Vegas Market in February, where we continued our focus on new products, introducing a new Sealy promotional line, the Embody specialty line and select Posturepedic mattresses.”

During the remaining three-quarters of 2010 it is expected that demand for some of Sealy’s flagship mattresses will continue to increase, further boosting sales as these mattresses tend to be priced higher.
