Governor Lynch Appoints Modular Homes Manufacturer to State Board of Fire Control

April 1, 2010 - PRLog -- PEMBROKE, NH. March 24, 2010 – The executive Council of the State of New Hampshire has confirmed Governor John Lynch’s appointment of John D. Ela to the NH Board of Fire Control within the NH Department of Safety.  The 11 member Board advises the NH State Fire Marshall on Rules and regulations related to fire safety and code enforcement.  The Board members represent different areas of expertise related to construction, energy, fire safety, manufacturing, architecture and engineering.   This appointment is for the seat representing manufacturing, which had been vacant.  Governor Lynch thanked John for his “willingness to serve the people of New Hampshire.”

John D. Ela is currently the CEO of Epoch Homes, a leading manufacturer of green custom modular homes.  The company has built some of the greenest homes in the country that are certified as LEED Platinum and built the first home in NH that was certified as Gold under the Build Green NH guidelines.  All of the company’s homes are fully custom designed and efficiently built using the latest techniques of Lean Manufacturing, Total Quality Management, and Mass Customization.  He has been using these approaches to improve manufacturing companies, as a CEO and Consultant since the mid 1980’s.  

A long time NH resident, he has a dual undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Economics and a Master’s degree in Economics, both from the University of New Hampshire.  Industry leadership positions include his membership on the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Home Builder’s Building Systems Council.
