A Cookbook with Character, Author of "Holocaust Survivors Cookbook" to speak at local JCC

On Wednesday, April 7, at 7:30pm, the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center, 18900 NE 25th Avenue, North Miami Beach, will offer a special opportunity for audiences to meet Joanne Caras, author of “Holocaust Survivors Cookbook.”

April 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Joanne Caras of Port St Lucie, Florida, who, for more than two years together with her entire family, worked tirelessly to collect recipes and stories from Holocaust Survivors, will be at the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center to talk about her poignant, and remarkable book. “We asked Holocaust Survivors to send us their favorite recipe, photos, and also stories of how they were able to survive the Holocaust”, Joanne said. “We collected 129 stories from all over the world, including Europe, South America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Israel, and many US states. Each one is a miracle!”

This particular lecture is part of the larger North Dade Holocaust Films and Lectures Series and is being presented by the Michael-Ann Russell JCC, Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, and The Foundation for Holocaust Education Projects in commemoration of Yom HaShoah – the Holocaust Remembrance Day.  Included in this series is the film “Neither Memory Nor Magic: The life and Poetry of Miklos Radnoti on April 8; “A Story of Survival and Courage” with Holocaust Survivor Anita Karl on Friday, April 9; the film “Dancing with Torah: A Young Man’s Search of a Holocaust Torah” on Sunday, April 11; and the film “Eagles Over Auschwitz: The Triumph of the Return-Israel Air Force F-15’s over Auschwitz” also on Sunday, April 11.
