Woof 4 A Roof! Takes Twitter By Storm The World’s Largest On-line Campaign Organized By Animals

THE WORLD’S LARGEST ON-LINE CAMPAIGN ORGANIZED BY ANIMALS

Toronto, ON. (April 13, 2010) -- I’m Bailey, woof-pack leader and spokes canine for Woof 4 A Roof!-- the largest on-line awareness campaign organized by animals. I lost over 100 of my animal friends and my shelter, the Humane Society of Durham Region (HSDR), to a tragic fire. Since then, the other survivors, and myself, have been staying in foster homes and holding areas around our region.

The good people at Pickering Town Centre created a fundraising and awareness campaign, Raise The Woof!  to help HSDR rebuild our shelter. During March Break (March 15 – 19, 2010) they had a variety of fun activities for families and kids. They raised over $9,000 by selling cute stuffed animals for $5 each and are also raising funds for us through a bag design contest for kids and teens. You can help choose the winner by voting on-line starting

April 7, 2010, after the finalists are announced. My favourite part of this initiative is the pet adoption gallery. So far, 13 of my friends have been adopted. Can I get a Woof! Woof!  

Not only are we gaining local community support, we have created quite the stir on Twitter. My Woof-Pack (animal followers) is over 500 strong and my Anipals (followers) have re-tweeted messages about our plight to over one million people. Our Anipal community organized an on-line concert to rally everyone and ask for support from influential tweeters like Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres and Denise Richards. Brett Wilson, from the popular TV show, Dragon’s Den has already ReTweeted our campaign through his network. This concert raised $1000 to help my friends and I.

We are fast approaching our goal of creating the strongest online presence ever known to animals. As a doggy-inspired campaign, we are looking to rally pets and animal lovers internationally. One tweet to friends has the potential to generate, much-needed awareness for the plight of the animals in my region.
