Follow on Google News | Jobs, Business, and Education Event for Veterans Coming to Cleveland's Progressive Field on April 29A civilian recruitment event for our nation’s military veterans and their spouses will take place on April 29 at Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians.
RecruitMilitary expects more than 20 employers, franchisors, and educational institutions to reserve booths for the Expo. Already signed up are Wackenhut Corporation, the University of Pittsburgh, Schlumberger, Progressive Insurance Corporation, the Ohio Army National Guard, Notre Dame College of Ohio, the National Veterans Employment Program (NVEP) of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, National College, Louis Stokes VA Medical Center, Indiana Wesleyan University, Hyland Software, Inc., the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Farmers Insurance Group, the Dallas Police Department, DeVry University, and Capella University. RecruitMilitary has also scheduled 47 additional events for 2010. Those Expos will take place in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Birmingham, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland (on October 14), Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, St. Louis, San Diego, San Jose, and Tacoma. Congress created HireVetsFirst in 2002 to develop awareness among employers of the outstanding attributes of men and women who are transitioning from active duty to civilian life. The Military Spouse Corporate Career Network (http://www.msccn.org) was founded in 2004 to provide career opportunities and job portability for military spouses. Members include military spouses, caregivers to war wounded, and retired military personnel. Purple Heart Services (http://www.purpleheartservices.com) works to meet the needs of combat-wounded individuals and their families. Among its programs and services are Purple Heart Radio, an online school named Veterans Vocational Technical Institute (VetTech), the Purple Heart Call Center, and Purple Heart Tech Support. Purple Heart Services is part of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation. The Military Order of the Purple Heart was founded in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all personnel who have received the Purple Heart decoration. The American Legion (http://www.legion.org) is an association of veterans who served during times of war. The association has 2.7 million members in nearly 15,000 posts throughout the world.
