During a recent investigation night held by the Ghosthunters Scotland group, a ghostly figure was seen in the old hen house next to the castle, while mediums detected the presence of other spirits from the distant past.

Two of the management team at Kelburn Country Centre, Maggie Calvey and Evelyn Chadwick, were involved in bringing the Ghosthunters group to the castle grounds to conduct their investigations.

In conjunction with the Ghosthunters group, it is hoped that ghost walk tours could take place within the castle grounds to provide an important tourism boost, while a fundraising event is already planned for a landmines clearance charity.

Maggie said: "The Ghost Hunters group were very professional with state of the art equipment. In the hen house, a tape recorder was used and questions were asked. I saw a man sitting on the bench.
