ABBYY Invites iPhone Users to Try Its Business Card Reader for Free

ABBYY®, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software, today announced the availability of the Lite and Free versions of its Business Card Reader application for the Apple® iPhone®. These versions are designed specifically to help iPhone users to try out the key functionality of ABBYY Business Card Reader in the simplest way. The supported devices include Apple iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G (OS 3.1 or later) with close-up lenses.

ABBYY Business Card Reader is a convenient and reliable business tool that transfers contact data from business cards directly to the iPhone address book by using the device’s camera and ABBYY’s text recognition technology. Names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other key information found on a business card can be saved automatically to the corresponding fields of a phone book without the need for further reorganization of the obtained data. The application can process text in 16 languages to include multilingual business cards.

Supported functions of the new trial versions of ABBYY Business Card Reader include:

ABBYY Business Card Reader Lite for iPhone — Captures all data on a business card and previews the results on a display. But unlike the fully-functional version, it saves to the iPhone address book only the following types of information: First Name, Last Name, and the first detected Phone Number. The Lite version is available for $0.99 (or the equivalent in your local currency) at the Apple AppStore.

ABBYY Business Card Reader Free for iPhone — Designed for trial purposes and available free of charge at the Apple AppStore. This version captures and recognizes all data on a business card and displays the results in a preview window but it does not provide the possibility to save the contacts in the address book.

Upgrade to Full Version
Users of the both trial versions can easily upgrade them to the full version directly from the application installed on their device. After clicking the “Buy” button, the payment from the user’s AppStore account will be made and the current version will be upgraded automatically.
