March 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Connexions currently operates out of Infopoint, where young people aged 16-19 (and older for those with special needs) can drop in to the centre and speak to a Personal Adviser or Employment Assistant who can offer free careers advice and assist with course applications, volunteering and training opportunities that are right for young people.

In addition to general careers guidance, the Infopoint facility provides support to young people in other areas related to health, relationships, drugs and alcohol addiction, further education, pregnancy, housing, leisure time and more.  Tailored support will be offered or they can take their time and discover the opportunities available to them through the service.

Youth project coordinator Andy Joyes said, “Support for young people in a safe and encouraging environment is essential and we have been working with youth organisations and community representatives over the past few years to secure this open drop-in centre.  Any young person that feels they need advice or information is welcome to come along and no appointment is necessary.”

The Mayor of Hailsham Councillor Dr Ian Haffenden said, “Centres like Infopoint ensure that young people from all backgrounds have access to the support, facilities and opportunities they need in order to get the best start in life.  That is why the Town Council continues to invest in such facilities and forges lasting partnerships with various youth development organisations such as Connexions.”

The Connexions drop-in centre is open Wednesdays (9.30am-1.00pm).  Alternatively, you can telephone for an appointment on 01323 745500 or 07905 596116.

‘Sexual Health’ sessions take place at Infopoint on Tuesdays (7.15pm-9.15pm) and Fridays (3.15pm-5.00pm).
