THE MINI-SUBMARINE is the story of a U.S.S.R. mini-sub which lands on the Stockholm
archipelago due to instrument failure, precisely on the mid-night when U.S.S.R ceases
to exist and Russia comes into being as a new republic.
Its captain Yuri, goes to contact the U.S.S.R. Embassy, but alas it doesn't exist any more.
On its door is a new sign : Embassy Of Russia ! Yuri does not get the help he needs
from the Russian Embassy, as he was a captain of the U.S.S.R. Navy and its submarines
were a subject of dispute between Russia and Ukraine... He applies to the Swedish police
for a political refugee status, but is not helped there either as neither U.S.S.R. is existing anymore, nor Russia is a communist state.
This incredible suspense, right in the beginning of the film, ties the spectators to the screen and the series of exciting happenings in the film do not give the spectators a chance to be bored until the end.
Yuri meets in the vicinity of where his mini-sub has landed, a Swedish girl who is studying Russian and their friendship develops into a marriage and Yuri can stay in Sweden.
The romance is fortified with fiery Russian music and against the sights of Stockholm, which can capture the hearts of the spectators.
Yuri is kidnapped by terrorists who want to sell him to a big power, for his knowledge of
sattelite communications, but he escapes. Chinese spies show interest in the mini-sub while Russians also try to locate it and remove its communications unit.
Yuri and his fiance Eva finally get married. In their wedding, in Eva's parents' villa in the archipelago, they are stunned by a big luxurious yacht which is passing in front of their villa. Hearing the Russian music, the owner of the yacht slows down to see what is going on in the villa. He is a Russian millionaire sailing with his fiance. Yuri and Eva wave to them from their villa's garden and invite them to their wedding. This way a friendship starts
between the couples.
Yuri and Eva are offered a job on the yacht. An international adventure starts, taking the spectators to London and far away places. Strong musical input and romantic events entertain the spectators. After many years, the couples decide to dock the yacht in the Stockholm archipelago, and turn it into a Russian restaurant. On Yuri's birthday, the terrorists who had kidnapped him, show up, as their prison term has finished.
Film continues with its suspense and finally ends in a peaceful way relaxing the spectators.
Throughout the film, suspense is accompanied with humor, social events, beautiful sights of Stockholm.
In the hands of the right director, THE MINI-SUBMARINE has the potential to compete with top adventure and espionage films, as well as romantic titles. Because of its subject, it has a vast market : Scandinavia, Russia, China and eventually the entire Europe. As an adventure film it can be viewed with interest in the world over. Its advertising positions would also secure for it a good financing.
Some known film schools have offered free cameras, film, lab and personnel for this film. Director Eduardo Coronado, a former teacher at the Film School in Lodz, Poland and assistant to the late Kieslowski, has shown great interest for this film and may offer his services as Co-Director, if a producer can be found.
