Dock Woods Chooses Touchtown for Life Enrichment

March 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Touchtown, Inc., the senior living industry’s first choice for community information systems, was recently selected by Dock Woods Community as its primary means of internal communications to residents. The integrated communications system consists of Touchtown TV+ and Touchtown Calendars, managed through a single, website-based user interface.

Dock Woods uses its Touchtown television channel to keep residents informed regarding events, activities, menus, updates, and to present other programming such as inspirational videos and rebroadcasts of Sunday chapel services. Dock Woods also uses the Touchtown system to generate five Life Enrichment Calendars each month, individually addressing the needs of residents in five areas of the community: Residential Living, Personal Care, Personal Care Memory Support, and two sections of its Health Care Center.

The integrated Touchtown system reduces administrative entry time and eliminates potential inconsistencies between TV channel and calendar information. Dock Woods had previously used separate software applications for its TV channel and calendars, each managed by different staff members. This resulted in discrepancies in event naming and scheduling, which was confusing to residents.

“Effective communication is one of the key ways we build a sense of community here at Dock Woods. When we chose Touchtown, the two most important factors to us were consistency and accuracy,” said Russ Mast, Executive Director of Dock Woods. “Now our communication with residents is centralized and streamlined.”

Dock Woods further appreciates the value of Touchtown’s website-based user interface. “During the recent blizzards I was able to update announcements from home,” said Christina Alderfer, Dock Woods’ Marketing Communications Associate. “And it’s a real convenience when it’s crunch time for getting the calendars out, or if I want to make changes in the evening.”
