Autism Movement Therapy, a 501 (c )3 non-profit organization, and Normal Films in collaboration with The Canyon Club have announced “Autism Sings!” a night of musical talent celebrating artists with Autism, a live performance fundraiser at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., May 5th. Autism Sings is a musical benefit for children with special needs and will showcase an array of gifted musical talent by young adults with Autism. The house band for the evening will be Jack Mack & the Heart Attack, one of LA’s leading Rock ‘N Soul bands.
Autism Sings! brings together a collection of young adult musicians with autism who will perform throughout the evening. Performers include: Stephen Shore, Ed D, a savant pianist, author and one of the world’s leading keynote speakers on autism; Wyatt Isaacs, actor and singer who appeared in the Academy Award winning HBO documentary “Autism the Musical” and Kyle Cousins, musical genius, singer, songwriter for Autism Speaks and composer of “Everybody Wants to Be Heard”, theme song to Autism Speaks.
Other notable performers include Dave Beukers, pianist and speaker; Nick Guzman, singer, guitarist and speaker; Susan Sheller, singer and writer; and Taylor Cross, filmmaker and speaker.
Additionally, musical acts for the evening will include: Jack Mack & the Heart Attack, one of LA’s leading Rock ’n Soul bands and Chadwick, a widely recognized singer of blues and jazz standards.
“Autism Sings! is more than just a night of great music,” stated Joanne Lara, founder of Autism Movement Therapy, Inc. “Myself and Keri Bowers see this as an opportunity to help do away with some of the mystery surrounding autism and to showcase what our individuals are capable of doing. It’s an opportunity to let people know that autism is not equal to a world of silence, but rather can be a world filled with sound, joy and beauty.”
