Apprentice idol, Pippa Ireland, has won some great deals and prestigious support and sponsorship for the short story competition she is running as part of her investigative project at Bishop Burton College. Pippa, who says she took a leaf out of Apprentice winner, Yasmina Siadatan’s book by keeping costs to a minimum, is now able to offer the maximum in prizes to encourage creative talent.
Pippa says, ‘watching the Apprentice has taught me many marketing tips and strategies, all of which I’ve used in working to make this competition venture a success’. By offering publicity and advertising space on her own and others’ websites, Pippa has attracted a prestigious pool of sponsors and a great cache of prizes totalling well over £1500.
The competition has already featured in the national press and various online outlets e.g. http://www.booktrade.info/
The competition has four sections: the Open, Yorkshire and Pony Club sections will be judged by international award-winning crime writer, Penny Grubb. Media mogul, John Fairley, of Channel Four Racing will judge the Racing section. International award-winning author and writing coach, Linda Acaster, is offering cut-price professional critiques to entrants.
Stories must have a countryside or equine theme and be no longer than 2000 words. The deadline is 15 May 2010.
