Home prices in the Charlotte market fell 3.1 percent in January from a year earlier. January’s prices dipped 0.6 percent from the December level.
The year-over-year price drop was the second-smallest among the 11 cities that posted declines.

Nationwide, the index saw a 0.7 percent price decline in January from a year earlier.
Las Vegas remained the weakest market among the 20 cities, with a price drop of 17.4 percent. It was followed by Tampa, Fla., and Detroit, which saw price declines of 7.4 percent.
The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index tracks sales prices of typical single-family homes in leading metropolitan areas.
