Housed in THE GRID, the new Si5 Spy Missions centre for Milton Keynes has missions for children, teenagers and adults. Players assume the role of a Si5 Special Agent. Once briefed, they embark on a ‘Covert Ops’ guided mission involving a series of challenges designed to test their spy skills to the limit, using quick thinking they work their way through nerve-jangling missions against the clock. They’ll need to be as cool as a spook to get through undetected.
Founder Bob Richardson devised the concept over 10 years ago when he created a series of challenging spy-based missions for his two young sons. Keeping two young boys entertained is a challenge on its own but Bob’s spy missions proved a hit. Bob would leave clues and equipment around his village and on a Saturday morning an envelope would arrive through the door addressed to the boys from her majesty’s secret service containing their ‘Mission Brief’. Soon all their friends heard about it and wanted to play. Three years ago the first SpyMasters opened to the public in Cambridge and now, 50,000 customers later, the business is ready to roll out a number of Si5 Spy Mission Centers across the UK, with the first opening in Milton Keynes this Easter.
Best described as ‘a cross between The Crystal Maze and Mission Impossible, the formula is simple. The multi-mission experience provides a hands-on opportunity to be adventurous and have fun with friends and family. Players use quick thinking to work their way through challenging missions, cracking codes and overcoming obstacles, culminating in an adrenalin-rush finish to make their escape undetected.
There are 12 Missions to choose from, 6 devised for teens and adults and 6 for 8 to 12 year olds, with various difficulty levels to suit all ages. Each team has a top Si5 training agent who shadows their every move. The agent assesses decisions and offers guidance where necessary on the use of gadgets and devices needed throughout the Mission. The Missions are scored in relation to how well the team cracks codes, remembers passwords, avoids setting off alarms and completes the Mission objective, whilst under constant time pressure.
Commenting on the launch of the first Si5 location, Bob Richardson, founder, says: “We reviewed numerous potential locations in the South East and Milton Keynes always came out on top. We are really excited by the vibrancy of the area and look forward to opening our flag ship Si5 experience to its first secret agents in the making!”
So if you are looking to live out the James Bond dream, entertain the kids for a whole afternoon, set up a corporate challenge or just throw the best birthday party ever, make it your mission to visit Si5 Spy Missions in Milton Keynes.
