PRLog -- Willspy Private Investigations of Costa Rica received a telephone call from K Woodroff of Escazu Costa Rica to inform willspy that his car had been stolen three days prior to the telephone call. Mr. Woodroff informed willspy that while at a local restaurant his car had been stolen and that it contained about $4,000 worth of personal property, he also informed willspy that he had receiver 4-5 telephone calls from the people that claimed they had the car and wanted to sell it back to him. Willspy informed Mr. Woodroff that it was common in Costa Rica to hold a car as ransom because they can get more money from the owner than they could get from a chop shop. Mr. Woodroff informed willspy that he had contacted O.I.J. and was told “it is a scam they don’t have your car and it is too dangerous to attempt to recover it”. Willspy agreed to attempt to recover the car and work out the ransom payment. Willspy made contact with the local O.I.J. office and worked out a joint plan to ambush the auto thieves. Later that night the thieves contacted Mr.Woodroff to make payment arrangements in front of a local casino. Approximately 11 P.M. willspy along with O.I.J. took down all four of the auto thieves and were able to recover all of Mr. Woodroff’s personal property. This was the first time that an American private investigation agency was able to work a successful auto recovery case with the O.I.J. in Costa Rica.
