Snitker A Nightly News Nobody...And An Internet Sensation

Libertarian candidate Alexander Snitker has received only scant major media attention in the race for Florida's open U.S. Senate seat, but recent web traffic data suggests that Snitker may be winning the battle for Internet users' hearts and minds.

March 29, 2010 - PRLog -- The race for Florida's U.S. Senate seat has been a top national news story lately.  But despite all his efforts, Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Alexander Snitker has had little success in attracting the attention of the mainstream press. That may soon change thanks to new data from a respected web site monitoring company, which reveals that Snitker is a political heavyweight on the Internet.

According to Alexa Internet, Inc., a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Snitker's official website had more visitors in the last three months than the official websites of rival candidates Charlie Crist and Kendrick Meek, beating out all but Marco Rubio's official site.

Snitker2010.com has seen its traffic increase by 2800%, and this impressive upward trend is an indication that the campaign has gone viral in a big way.  If traffic to his website continues to increase at this pace, it could overtake Rubio as the as the most popular of all the Senate candidates websites within a few weeks.

What is most shocking about this phenomenon is that Snitker has been virtually ignored by the major media. On an average news day, the other leading Senate candidates enjoy a 200-to-1 advantage over Snitker in media coverage. “Rubio, Crist and Meek got more mainstream media attention this morning alone than Alex has gotten in the entire campaign,” said Daryle Hamel, Snitker's marketing director.

But his staff of volunteers have managed their grass-roots campaign accordingly, using the web and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to their advantage. “We knew that the media would ignore us in the early going,” said Adrian Wyllie, Snitker's media director.  “We have limited financial resources, but we have an army of volunteers willing to spread our message of liberty and Constitutional principles.  Apparently, it's working.”

Not surprisingly, Snitker's message of smaller government, more individual freedom has gotten the attention of groups such as the Campaign for Liberty and 912 movements.  He has been a frequent speaker at tea party meetings and rallies throughout the state.

Unlike his rivals, Snitker is a political newcomer who supports Congressional term limits. He is a proponent of citizen-legislators, and takes a hard stance against career politicians. “There is a two-party political class in Washington who have become rulers – instead of temporary representatives of the people – and that must change,” said Snitker. “This data shows that the Americans will seek out liberty candidates, even when the newspapers and cable news shows are doing their best to ignore them.”

Perhaps it's fitting that the libertarian approach to government so closely mirrors the Internet, where limited central control allows surfers to follow their own path and chose their own destination. That seems to suit Alex Snitker just fine.
