Coming up on their one-year anniversary, Massage Redefined of South Tampa has added a very popular skill to their tool kit of assisting their clients in the pursuit of health: Reflexology.
Reflexology is a technique that uses points and areas in the feet and hands which are associated to every part of the body. By applying alternating pressure to these reflex points, the entire body can be affected to restore internal balance.
Eunice Ingham, the mother of Reflexology, brought modern Reflexology to the West, however Reflexology has been informally practiced by Cherokee Indians and even the Egyptians have wall paintings depicting ancient Reflexology techniques and treatments.
With new emerging research, Reflexology is gaining traction in the medical community. One study in particular by Marc Piquemal, M.D. shows that these Reflexology points can cause a visible increase in blood flow around the relating organs.
With new health reforms coming into effect over the next three years, it seems appropriate that Massage Redefined is spear heading the complimentary medicine effort in South Tampa.
Reiki being another of Massage Redefined’s modalities, which addresses the overall energetic balances of the body to increase health, it seems that they are striving to offer only the most potent Energy Medicine techniques in their practice.
“When all is said and done, we want to give our clients the most rewarding results possible.” states Sam Belyea, Licensed Massage Therapist for Massage Redefined.
“Through utilizing the alternative and complimentary therapies like Reflexology, we can hit on an aspect of true therapy that taking a pill cannot. We strive to work with our client’s goals, most of them seeking more holistic approaches to wellness, so with modalities like Reflexology and Reiki, we can offer them the best ways to integrate true therapy into their daily lives.”
The main way Massage Redefined has integrated Reflexology has been in their “Just Feet” sessions, which include a warm foot bath and a hand made sugar and honey scrub, which last for a half or full hour and can be viewed here: http://massageredefined.com/
“The beauty of Reflexology is that it is a very easy thing to use even during a regular Massage Therapy session.” Sam Belyea states.
