The students of the Entrepreneurship development Centre, MICA welcomed a power packed audience that consisted of eminent guests from TiE Mumbai, TiE Ahmedabad as well as TiE student representatives. The mentors included big names like Pramod Gothi (Northstars Advisors), S. Hariharan (Savoir Faire Management Services), Rajesh Solanki (Energos Technologies)
Also present were the Director of MICA Prof. Ashok Ranchhod, the chairperson of MICA’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) Prof. G.R. Jain, faculty members, and other staff and students from the Post Graduate Programme in Entrepreneurship in Media & Communications (PGPEMC). Prof. Jain began proceedings by highlighting the strengths of the PGPEMC programme and threw light upon the need for mentoring students and co creation of ideas. Next Mr. Jay Ruparel, COO of Azure Technologies, shared his views on how time has allowed the aura of scepticism to vanish from the domain of entrepreneurship.
The session continued with students presenting over 30 unique ideas to the mentors pertaining to different sectors and industries. This only proved the mettle the students possessed as well as their hunger to succeed. Various mentors chose their mentees who were then scheduled for a one-to-one discussion to ensure personal attention. Parag Desai, CEO Wagh Bakri Group who was also present during the event said “I am impressed by the quality of ideas. The amount of hard work put by the students will definitely see the light of day.”
All the ideas of these budding entrepreneurs were presented to their respective mentors who provided valuable inputs and their very own personal experiences during their entrepreneurial journey. This encouraging and enriching session provided valuable support and guidance to the students who soaked up everything that came their way. “The TiE meet at MICA with budding entrepreneurs is a brilliant and novel concept. I wish I had got such an opportunity when I was younger. This is the first time I have heard of a course that offers no placement” said another mentor M. Hariharan, Savoir Faire.
“Consistent with its goal to inculcate and foster entrepreneurship, the event was an ideal platform to bring young budding entrepreneurs and their ideas in touch with venture capitalists, management consultants, advertisers and seasoned entrepreneurs”
Later, Mr. Manek Singh, Executive Director, TiE Mumbai stated as to how TiE applauded each entrepreneurial effort and their various tie ups in India to promote the same over the years. Singh said "The 'Enterprising India' movement took another step forward with MICA to guide the enterprising young students. Mentors from TiE Mumbai & Ahmedabad were impressed with some very interesting ideas that were presented & discussed. Ideas that could have the potential to change the nation & lead the world".
The meet ended on a promising note where mentors showed eagerness to come back and nurture the student’s ideas till the very end.
