Newark Murder Arrest Raises An Old Issue
The recent arrest of two men in a 1978 murder in Newark, New Jersey, raises an ongoing issue in the minority community. "There are many unsolved and under investigated homicides and missing person cases when it comes to the African American community," claims author Alan Cramer. These types of crimes are often under investigated in our community. What often happens is not only are they unsolved, but connections aren't made. The victims of serial killers often are treated as random homicides.
Mr Cramer says that growing up in the Bronx, he knew of one man who went to jail for killing one woman, but upon release dated another woman who was murdered in the same way. There was also another girl in the 'Hood' who liked this guy who was also found murdered.
Cramer used this individual as the model for his urban serial killer novel, "The Life."
