Follow on Google News | Hailsham In Bloom Film Night Fundraiser A SuccessA generous amount of money was raised for the Hailsham In Bloom 2010 campaign at a special one-off screening of rare sci-fi classic Silent Running, held at the Hailsham Pavilion last Saturday.
By: Terry Hall, Hailsham Town Council Guests of honour at the event included the Mayor of Hailsham Cllr Dr Ian Haffenden, the High Sheriff of East Sussex Bill Shelford, and Hailsham Lions Club President Mel Elridge. 50% of box office takings on the night went towards the funding of future Hailsham In Bloom projects. Raffle prizes were also won on the night. “The Film Night has been a memorable occasion, bringing Hailsham residents and together for a fantastic cause”, Cllr Bentley-Astor said after the screening. “The message of the film Silent Running is so close to the environmental awareness and conservation messages we try and get across to residents at a local level, that we wanted to invite our Hailsham In Bloom supporters and families to view this wonderful film.” Adds Cllr Bentley-Astor, “The Pavilion is a superb venue and I’d like to extend my thanks to the General Manager Paul Nunney for his help in organising the event. Thanks must also go to my fellow committee members for their assistance, and members of the public who attended the event and donated money towards the Hailsham In Bloom effort after the main feature.” For all enquiries relating to this press release, contact: Terry Hall, Hailsham Town Council Inglenook Market Street Hailsham East Sussex BN27 2AE United Kingdom End
