Each year, nearly 12,000 Toastmasters clubs hold two speech contests in the spring time. These events give an opportunity for Toastmasters to show off their skills, take their training to a new level and learn by observing other Toastmasters.
The winner of Chester County Toastmasters International Speech Contest is Audra Supplee. This contest requires participants to have completed a minimum of six speech projects toward their Competent Communicator award, and must create a wholly original speech. This five-to-seven minute speech is judged by a panel of five judges and the winner represents the club at the Area contest and perhaps at higher levels.
The winner of Chester County Toastmasters Evaluation Contest is Brian Sagula. The contest requires participants to evaluate a model or test speech given by our past president Robin Flavelle, after which all of the contestants evaluate the same speech. The two-to-three minute evaluation is prepared quickly, often under ten minutes, and is designed to provide positive feedback and recommended improvement areas for the speaker. As with other contests, the winner represents the club at the Area contest and perhaps at higher levels.
Chester County Toastmasters club, which currently meets at West Chester United Methodist Church, 129 South High Street (intersection of High and Miner Streets) West Chester, PA 19382-3226, on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 6:30 pm can help you grow professionally in 2010.
