Clearwater, FL -- Dr. David Minkoff, (http://www.drminkoff.com)
Throughout 2009, Dr. Minkoff noted a marked improvement in his race times, culminating with his 36th Ironman race at Ironman Arizona in November, where he achieved his best-ever placing. He claimed 7th place in his age group in a time of 12:48, and his marathon time improved by an astonishing 25 minutes. Reflecting on his improved times, Dr. Minkoff says, “Last year I doubled my MAP intake to ten twice a day, instead of once. This caused an almost instant boost to my fitness level. That meant I could train harder, train more and get injured less. I feel great and my improved times speak for themselves.”
The American Dietetic Association says that when athletes do heavy strength and resistance training, they need more than twice the amount of protein as normal to rebuild and repair their bodies. Master Amino Acid Pattern (MAP) is unique in that 99% of the amino acids can be used to make protein in the body. It is the highest quality protein and no food can compare. Many endurance athletes who regularly use MAP report increased muscle mass, strength and endurance and a much faster recovery time after workouts.
Ironman races are known as the elite and toughest of all triathlon races. A full Ironman consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. It takes a very special kind of athlete to become involved in the sport and most find it compelling. Seeing his times improve so dramatically has given Dr. Minkoff a real boost for the coming season. He says, “I don’t wish I was 35, because I feel like I’m 35. Excitedly, I am looking forward to some more PBs this season.”
To reach his current record of 36 Ironman races, Dr. Minkoff competes in full Ironman races once or twice a year and a couple half Ironman and Olympic distance Triathlons a couple of times a year.
