Association for Learning Technology calls for nominations for the award of Honorary Life Membership

ALT announces the 2010 Call for Nominations for Honorary Life Membership of ALT, the UK-based professional and scholarly association which brings together all those with an interest in the use of learning technology.

March 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Seb Schmoller, Chief Executive of ALT, explains the criteria for honorary members, “We welcome nominations for the Honorary Life Membership which is awarded to individuals whom the Association believes have made an outstanding and sustained contribution to the advancement of the Association for Learning Technology’s aims. ALT’s mission is to further the development of learning technology in a national or international context through research, practice, policy-development, leadership, or a combination of these.”

Professor Hawkridge became only the third recipient of the honour in 2009. After working at the American Institutes for Research in Palo Alto, California, he became founding Director of the Open University’s Institute of Educational Technology. While at the Open University he directed research and development, and led the creation of the OU’s international MA in Open (now Online) and Distance Education. He advised universities and governments in many countries on educational technology and distance education. He is an Emeritus Professor of The Open University and a Visiting Professor in the Beyond Distance Research Alliance at the University of Leicester. His research publications cross the disciplines of education, the psychology of learning, learning technologies and media.

1. Any individual, whether or not he or she is an individual member, and whether or not he or she represents an ALT organisational member may be nominated for HLM.

2. Any individual member of ALT is entitled to make or support nominations for HLM.

The deadline for returning completed nomination forms *by post* is Friday 30 April, 2010.
