Twestival Triumphs in Farnham

Twestival Farnham (http://www.farnham.twestival.com/), held at Farnham Castle on the 25th March was declared a huge success by all involved. With donations still coming in, Surrey’s Twitter community have raised over £1,500 for Concern Worldwide’s (http://www.concern.net/en) international educational programmes.

Organised by Surrey based PR agency (http://www.thebluedoor.com/index.shtml) thebluedoor, the event has surpassed all fundraising expectations. Over 70 people attended Twestival Farnham and enjoyed a night of speeches and entertainment by Berkshire magicians Simon Alexander and Clive Winterton, and local band The Mislaid Keys.

Keynote speaker Nick Halstead, CEO of TweetMeme, (http://tweetmeme.com/) delivered an insightful speech on the future of journalism in a post-paywall online world of publishing. This was followed by a question and answer session with local entrepreneurs and angel investors, Julian Ranger and Simon Hulme.

Following the success of Twestival Farnham, a regular social networking event, Digital Surrey (http://www.digitalsurrey.co.uk/) will be run by thebluedoor in Farnham. The first Digital Surrey event will be held at Farnham’s Slug and Lettuce venue on Thursday 29th April at 7pm.
