Cristiano Ronaldo against Getafe
Real Madrid needed a little more than 35 minutes to ensure another victory on Thursday and resume the leadership of the Spanish League.
With great performances from Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal and the Argentinean Higuaín, each scoring twice, the team beat Getafe away from home 4-2.
The result was important for Real Madrid, taking the leadership over Barcelona. The two teams are tied with 71 points, but the Madrileños are ahead by goal average. Getafe are fighting for intermediate positions.
Even without counting on the injured Kaká, Real Madrid started the match impressively. And despite playing away from home, were already winning by 4-0 on 37 minutes of the first half.
At 13 minutes, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a perfectly executed free kick to open the scoring. It wasn’t long before “Los Blancos” scored again seven minutes later, with Higuaín taking a pass from Rafael van der Vaart and putting the ball away with a cross kick.
Getafe became apathetic after these two goals and watched Real Madrid scoring twice again before they managed a small reaction. Higuain who’s been in great form, invaded the goal area, dribbled past a defender and scored the third at 23 minutes. Then it was time for Ronaldo to show his dribbling skills as he passed a defender on the right and from a tight angle scored his second of the night as the clock ticked 37.
Two minutes later and taking advantage of a failure by goalkeeper Casillas to clear a ball outside the area, Parejo pulled one back. Getafe pressed harder in the second half and reached the second goal by Pedro León, but it was not enough to get a reaction. After today’s game, Real Madrid has won ten consecutive games in the Spanish League.
