The Chattanooga-based company is publisher of the three-volume lay commentary Understanding the Sunday Scriptures: A Companion to the Revised Common Lectionary (Years A, B, and C). The Year C volume was recently released in 2009, completing this unique set of lectionary resources.

Dr. Oehmig is also author of Between the Lines: Reflections on the Gospels Through the Church Year and Beyond the Words: Insights on the Gospels Through the Church Year.

Anders (www.IsabelAnders.com) is Managing Editor of Synthesis Publications, as well as the author of Becoming Flame: Uncommon Mother-Daughter Wisdom and 20 other inspirational books for adults, children, and young adults. She was a Contributing Editor to Understanding the Sunday Scriptures along with Paula Franck, M. T. S., Editor for Scripture for Synthesis Publications.

Dr. Oehmig was recently appointed to the faculty of The University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee, as Interim Men’s Golf Coach. He was previously Golf Coach at Baylor School in Chattanooga.

The School of Theology, Sewanee, Tennessee, has been named one of six sites worldwide chosen to host the Anglican Communion’s “Bible in the Life of the Church” project, a major initiative designed “to re-evaluate the ways in which Anglicans have heard, studied, and received Scripture” in their lives (http://www.episcopalchurch.org/79901_120932_ENG_HTM.htm).

The three-volume Understanding the Sunday Scriptures, a highly accessible study guide to the Bible, is unprecedented as a contribution to available lay Christian education resources. It follows the Revised Common Lectionary, and includes Bible background and discussion material for the lections of every possible Sunday in the Church Year, including an On Reflection by Dr. Oehmig for each lesson.

The Episcopal Church adopted the RCL as its standard lectionary in 2006. Many congregations of other denominations such as Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists, and Roman Catholics also follow the RCL to various degrees in their worship. In addition, individual congregations from the free church tradition often adopt the RCL as an ecumenical act of fellowship (http://lectionary.library.vanderbilt.edu/faq2.php).

Copies of Understanding the Sunday Scriptures may be ordered for individuals or groups at Amazon.com or at: http://www.readmarkpress.com/Shopping.html
