Auto detailers get asked by customers frequently to touch up the chips and scratches on their vehicles, but less than 10% of detailers have the tools to perform the job.
The reasons for this: touch up kits are expensive ($2000+) and difficult to learn (scales, toners, formulas, air brushes, etc.).
To meet this need, Applied Colors has produced the Mini ScratchOut kit, a prexmixed touch up system that can fix scratches and rock chips on all colors of cars on the road. For just $695, it allows detailers to mix a small amount of paint (up to 10,000 colors) and apply it precisely to the scratches and chips on their customers' cars.
The Mini kit is easy to learn. Read the instruction card and practice on a few vehicles. Typically it takes 2 hours to master. The key to its simplicity is the Color Deck, a fan of 100 premixed colors that the operator holds up to the car to choose a matching color. Each color on the deck contains instructions (ie, 5 drops of Blue1 and 15 drops of Blue2) on how to mix the matching color. Once a matching color is chosen and mixed, simply clean the repair area and apply the touch up paint with a fine tipped 10/0 spotter touch up brush.
The system contains 44 bottles of paint. Each bottle will touch up 25 cars, so in total, over 1100 cars can be serviced. With an average charge of $40 per car, that is the potential to bill $40,000 alone with just the paint that originally comes with the touch up paint system.
Naturally, common colors like silver, black, and white demand more paint, and Applied Colors includes 6 bottles of black, 3 bottles of bright silver, and 4 bottles of white with the initial system.
