New Eyes for the Needy Receives Grant from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey
to Fund Eyeglass Program in Essex, Morris and Union Counties
March 25, 2010, Short Hills, NJ – New Eyes for the Needy was awarded a $7,500 grant award from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey to purchase new prescription eyeglasses for disadvantaged residents of Essex, Morris and Union counties.
“We are so thankful to The Healthcare Foundation for investing in New Eyes’ mission to give clear sight to poor children and adults in New Jersey,” said Susan M. Dyckman, executive director, New Eyes for the Needy. “The Foundation’s grant will make sure that 125 people get the glasses and clear sight they need to enjoy a better quality of life on their journey toward self-sufficiency.”
New Eyes has helped 730 poor New Jerseyans to see clearly in 2009-10: this represents 18 percent of the total number of eyeglasses purchased by New Eyes over the past year.
