Inner City Kitties Spay and Neuter Program Expands for 2010 in Grand Rapids, Michigan

March 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Vicky's Pet Connection, based in Ada, Michigan and The Spay Neuter Express, run by Dr. Bruce P. Langlois, Hospital Director at the Animal Hospital of Lowell in Lowell, Michigan, are expanding their successful "Inner City Kitties Spay and Neuter Program" for 2010.

This year the program, which provides free spay and neuter services for cats belonging to low-income Grand Rapids residents, will operate at 446 Grandville SW in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Thursday evenings from April 1 through August 26.

The goal is to spay/neuter 1,000 cats -- more than twice the number done last year.

Registration and Pickup Instructions

Registration and cat drop off begins promptly at 5 p.m. on clinic nights.

Cats must arrive healthy in separate, secure carriers. Owners are asked to include a clean towel in each carrier.

Cats that are to receive services must be fasted (no food or drink) on the day of the surgery from 8 am for adults and from noon for kittens six months and younger. Kittens must weigh a minimum of two pounds.

Pickup after the procedure is at 10 p.m. sharp the night of surgery for male cats and 9 a.m. sharp the following morning for females.  Pet owners will be provided with follow-up care instructions.

All spay and neuter procedures are free of charge to low-income residents of Grand Rapids, including those who would otherwise not have access to these services.

Other Services Available
Additional services, including vaccinations, deworming, microchipping and ear mite treatment, are available for a small fee.

About Vicky’s Pet Connection

Vicky's Pet Connection (VPC) is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing, caring for and placing homeless and abandoned animals.

VPC operates as a "guaranteed placement" program. Every animal is given medical attention, social interaction, behavior assistance and TLC until a suitable home is found. About The Spay Neuter Express

The Spay Neuter Express is a mobile veterinary clinic offering low-cost spays and neuters for dogs and cats.  This service is offered for pets owned by low income families, rescue groups, shelters and strays.  It is also for barn and feral (wild) cats and cat colonies.
