On Easter Sunday (April 4) from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m., Good Shepherd Centre (412 Queen Street East) will be preparing a festive meal for the homeless and others in need in our community. The meal is served free of charge.
Over the past year, Good Shepherd Centre has seen a 50% increase in demand for meals. This year, we are serving an average of 1,200 meals per day.
To serve an expected 1,200 guests this Easter, Good Shepherd Centre is preparing 544 kilograms (1200 pounds) of roast beef, 453 kilograms (1,000 pounds) of potatoes, 227 kilograms (500 pounds) of vegetables. Dessert will be apple pie and each guest will also receive a chocolate treat.
Flowers have been donated to decorate the dining room, and more than 50 volunteers will help serve guests.
