The Stewardship Award is one of several accolades bestowed on Homewood Suites of Newburgh during the short three years of its existence. In their second year of operation, the hotel received outstanding scores for their Quality Assurance Evaluation, and their latest scores were even higher yet. This year, in addition to the Stewardship Award, the hotel’s General Manager Kathy Russo was nominated for the General Manager of the Year award, a highly prestigious award that is the result of letters and endorsements from visitors to the property, local companies, and staff.
Just prior to their receipt of the Stewardship Award, Homewood Suites of Newburgh had the opportunity to put their reputation for community relations into action. During the recent snowstorm, Homewood Suites of Newburgh made a quick decision to reach out to both the community and service people coming in from outside the community to help with the clean up. They immediately contacted the local utility companies and offered highly discounted accommodations for people whose homes had lost electricity or suffered damage. Says General Manager Kathy Russo, “Our staff had to work around the clock to make sure our guests were comfortable. At 100% capacity, they did an outstanding job of providing everyone with comfort and service that is above and beyond that of your typical hotel. With kids in the pool and families gathered in the lobby sharing their ‘storm stories,’ we turned a State of Emergency into a positive experience! We’ve received nothing but glowing reviews from guests.”
