March 25, 2010 - PRLog -- Biddeford, ME (March 17, 2010) – The University of New England (UNE) is pleased to announce a new Web site for its Master of Social Work online option. The new Web site, at http://socialwork.une.edu, features information about UNEs MSW online option, and online resources for prospective students and employed professionals who are thinking of pursuing an advanced social work degree. The School of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and the University of New England is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

“The new Web site is designed to provide students and social work professionals with much more than information about our MSW online option,” says Martha Wilson, Director of the School of Social Work at UNE. “The new Web site highlights the field of social work and the career opportunities that are available in a very demanding and rewarding field.”

“We began offering our Master of Social Work degree online because there is such a demand for social workers and social work services today,” says Wilson. “Most health and clinical positions require a MSW degree but many students with basic social work degrees or degrees in other fields are reluctant to leave their current positions to pursue an advanced degree. Earning an advanced online degree through our MSW program can open up many rewarding employment opportunities.”

The UNE MSW program offers a Traditional Track for students who have a bachelor’s degree but are new to the field of social work. Students who have a bachelor’s degree in social work and the necessary experience in the field may be eligible to join the MSW program in the Advanced Standing Track. Once students are admitted to the MSW program they will choose one of two concentrations to specialize in: Individual, Family and Group Practice or Organization and Community Practice.

“Our students and faculty are passionate about what they do, and our MSW program prepares our graduates to be advocates for social justice and agents of meaningful change,” says Wilson. Students who are interested in pursuing their MSW degree online through UNE should visit the Web site to apply online. The MSW program admits students on a rolling basis. Summer classes begin on May 3, 2010 and the application deadline for Summer courses is April 16, 2010.
