Rolfe Carawan, author, public speaker and leadership coach with the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation a non-profit, bi-partisan organization committed to vigilantly protecting and preserving the rights of individuals in America to publicly pray and express faith in God to make a presentation at the “Keep God in America” rally on Saturday March 27th 2010.
In early 2005, Members of the US House of Representatives began meeting in Room 219 of the U.S. Capitol every week to pray. On November 18, 2005, a bi-partisan group of Members of Congress united on the steps of our nation’s Capitol to formally call America to pray. Soon thereafter, these Members formed the Congressional Prayer Caucus to vigilantly protect and preserve the right of individuals in America to publically pray and express faith in God. Their vision for the Caucus inspired them to form the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, Inc. which is a bi-partisan, non-profit organization designed to support the Call of America back to Prayer and Faith in God.
Today, CPC has advocated for Public expressions of faith in God several times in the last few years including notable cases like where two men recently faced criminal contempt charges for saying a prayer before a meal at an event in Florida Members of CPC sent a letter to the judge and within days the she dismissed the case. The Architect of the Capitol refused to allow the word God on flag certificates Members of CPC fought this and flag certificates can again contain the word God. They nearly succeeded in expunging our national motto, “In God We Trust” and every aspect of our religious national heritage from the newly constructed National Visitors Center in DC Members of CPC fought for a year and a half and were successful in having our national motto “engraved in stone in the Visitors Center along with the Pledge of Allegiance and other references to our religious heritage.
