Display: RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 has a 2.5 inch non touch display which gives a 320x240 pixel resolution or 65,536 colors. Just like most BlackBettery handsets, this phone comes with light sensing technology which adjusts the brightness of the display according to the ambience light.
Navigation array/Keyboard – The navigation array is made up of standard End and Talk keys, trackball navigator, back and Main Menu button. All these buttons are good and easy to press. Below this navigation array, there is the full QWERTY keyboard which has tiny buttons but typing is comfortable because there is plenty of spacing between them.
Music player: Music player of the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 supports MIDI, AMR-NB, eAAC+, AAC+, AAC, WMA and MP3. Supported video formats include H.263, WMV and MPEG4. For storing your music, there is 96 MB internal memory and the card slot can take up to 8 GB cards. There is a search option on the phone if you want to look for your music, and the player can create playlists on the fly. Repeat and shuffle modes are also supported.
Camera: RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 has a 2 mega pixel camera which records videos and comes with flash. For the camera, you get three options for quality, three picture sizes and 5x zoom. Video options are not as generous; you get just 2 formats (MMS or standard), video light and three effects for color. Picture quality of this camera was strictly OK.
Call quality: RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 didn’t have any issues with call quality. We could hear our friends well and there was no distortion or background noise while talking. Our friends too had similar experiences, but they said that our voices sounded a bit tinny. Speakerphone voice was garbled but we could still talk on the phone.
Features: RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 comes with attachment viewer that can be used to open popular file formats like GIF, JPEG, PDF, Corel WordPerfect, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel. This phone also comes preinstalled with messengers like Google Talk, Yahoo, Aim along with the BlackBerry Messenger. BlackBerry Internet Service gives you access to ten business/personal IMAP4 or POP3 e-mail accounts. There is a spell checker for e-mails but cannot use this in multimedia or text messages.
Battery life: This handset has a rated battery life of 4.3 hours and standby time is days. While writing the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 review, we tested the battery life and it gave us juice for five hours which is more than the rated talk time.
